It makes very little difference as long as you use a good shampoo/conditioner, as you said.

I reccomend washing your hair in warm water, and then doing a quick rinse at the end with cool, it works the same for your skin as it does for your hair, closing pores and giving it shine. But in truth, neither hot or cold is either "good" or "bad" for your hair.

Warm is better than hot (you'll lose less hair)and should do the job.
Leave the cold water for the rinse though.

I am hairdresser and better if you will wash your hair in medium hot water (to clean your hair) and finish with cold water to give a shine .

Cold water closes the cuticle and gives shine as result.Hot water does the opposite and can damage hair eventually

Ive heard cold water is best.
It seals up the cuticles, and keeps hair from breaking. Plus it gives it a really healthy shine and promotes growth.

shamp and condit only in warm water. Hot water can hurt it. especially if you highlight or color your hair. Use warm water to clean, and cool ( as cold as you can handle) and rinse good. It also adds shine!
