Jeeps don't get the best of gas mileage, expect 15-19 MPG around town, on the highway, well it's a brick in the wind, expect the same maybe less, just depends how fast you want to drive.

I don't really care anymore, I'm going to drive what I want, I wanted a Jeep and I bought a Jeep and am enjoying it. And to me I'd rather pay the extra $10-15 a week in gas, than drive a Honda.

It is like a box on wheels, so yes, fuel economy suffers. Most Jeep owners didn't buy them for the economy. My '04 Rubicon gets about 7 MPG in the city and 11 on the highway. No, there isn't anything wrong with it, and I am not complaining. There are a lot of things that change fuel economy, such as engine size, transmission gear ratios, axle ratios, and finally the driver. Offroad I probably get better mileage, but I also get where I need to go. olllllllo

Yes the new jeeps, don't matter what model are getting terrible gas mileage due to diamler chrysler's idea to stop production on the straight 6 engine. The new V6 engines are not doing very well on mileage what so ever, average from what I've heard is around 18MPG mixed city/highway. While the average on my 96 grand cherokee full time 4WD is between 26-28MPG mix city/highway. Pretty bad I think. I wouldn't buy a new jeep due to the engine changes. If you really want a wranger get one built prior to 2004.

I have an 05 wrangler x with a 4.0 and a 6 speed.I get about 20-22 MPG. It isn't has good on gas has some of the other trucks out there. But with certain other makes out there what you may save in gas you spend way more on repairs in the long run.I haven't had any trouble out of my baby and he turns 2 on 4-15-07.So even with the low MPG it is still worth it.

I have a 2004 with a 6-cylinder and it gets around 16-19 on the interstate and probally 13-15 in town. The 4-cylinder will get better but I am unsure what they actually get. I had a 1995 with a 4-cylinder and got almost 24mpg on the highway. I hope this will give you a better idea!
