i just painted my bathroom -- its a small one... i was wondering if i should wait any certain amount of time before steaming the bathroom up? (and i cant leave the door open while im taking the shower)

i am asking how long before it is completely dry....

to the touch it is already dry and it has been a few hours.

it is standard interior wall paint-- satin finish.

If it is latex (water base) you can shower now. Since it is dried to the touch already, it is latex.
Look on the back of the can and you will see that the drying time for latex is about four hours. Do not try to clean it for one week, fully cured in thirty days. Oil base take 24 hours to dry but dampness will not harm it after a few hours.

Depends on what kind of paint you used. If its a water based paint, you have to wait for at least a couple of days for it to completely dry, the humidity from the steam will make it run. If its a latex paint overnight should be ok.


I better brush up on paints. All pun intended. LOL. I always thought they were different. LOL

I would wait at least 48 - 72 hours. I painted my kids room and the paint said to wait at least 3 days for any moisture. 30 days to be cured and washable.
