Is it bad for a dog to be on cement all day? Would it cause there joints to be in pain due to the hard surface???? Because my whole back yard is cemented and there’s only a little bit of grass for the dog to do his business, but he isn’t really on cement all day he has a really comfy bed to sleep in.

Thanks everyone else, and yes there’s shelter and he’s got a really comfy bed and he does stay inside but not always ok and the front yard is all grass so if think I’ll get a fence up the front so that way when he is outside he has more grass and a bit more room.

I think so and it would be really bad if it was so hot over there it could make a bad burn and if its too cold that couldhurt it's tummy and make the paws of your dog really cold. I would not let a dog sit on that all day so my answer is "No"

First dont be in such a panic!!!! If you have a large breed dog or even a big bones dog it's not the best for their joints. But you say you have a bed for the dog to lay on so at least he can get off the cement.
Older dog joints dont like cement at all. It does hurt their joints to be on it all day. Cement is not forgiving like grass is.

It is not good for the dog to be on cement all day. It can cause joint pain, etc. It's a cold surface, so his health could be effected too. Colds, etc. Does he have a shed or some kind of "housing" to keep himself in? Out of rain, etc? If not, that is not good. I don't know if you can and or do watch Animal Planet, but on Animla Cops, they expect that a dog kept outdoors is properly provided for-at all times. A shelter to keep dry in, the collar not too tight, and the leash/lead allow enough length to go potty on grass, etc. Also, always have fresh food and fresh water outside for the dog as well. If you can't supply all of this, then please keep the dog indoors, except to go outdoors to go potty, etc. Also, is he current on all of his shots? I'm glad you have a comfy bed for him to sleep in. Take care.

your dog being on cement most of the day has its good and bad points, just like everything else in life, it will eventually do some damage to his joints etc due to the hard surface, more so if he likes to jump and bound around alot, but on the other hand it will grind down his nails, so they will not get to a point where they are to long and painful, this is great if your dog doesnt like to sit still to have them cut. it is great that he has a nice bed to go to at night though.

I'm sorry to tell you but the answer is YES.
Cement could cause bone and joint damage. It's cold, hard and doesn't have any flexibility or impaction absorption.
I'm sorry...please put the dog into an area where he's not on cement.
People think that because they are dogs, that it's okay to put them on cement areas...it's not. I know I'd never enjoy living on a hard, cold surface.
:)
Good luck

No more so than you and me. Cement probably isn't the best but if he has a bed to lie in and a patch of grass to do his business, he is just fine. Hopefully, you take him for walks or to a nearby park for a change of scenery regularly.

Does your dog live outside? If yes, then that's your first issue. Most domesticated dogs should be family members. Getting a dog just to dump it outside is irresponsible.
And, a dog is not made to be on concrete all day. It can be very hard on the pads of their feet and on their joints.
Perhaps you could consider rehoming with a rescue group who can find the pup a more adequate home? http://www.petfinder.com

yu should get him a nice soft bed to lay in/on.
and, about the cement, try putting grass in replacement to some or most of the cemement. besides, it would make your dog happier.

It is bad if that's all he's ever going to be on, but if he gets out and plays inside with you he should be just fine.
