Archaeologists have discovered that the Mayan calendar does not extend beyond 2012, and on the basis of this little tidbit of information the alarmists and apocalypse jiunkies have concluded that it must be the final cataclysm!

The Mayan calendar ends then but it doesn't mean the world will end. The way it was explained to me was that the universe is like a big lung. It expands and contracts. In 2012 it will start contracting. Also, supposedly Jesus will come again in 2012.

This is not a Christian belief. Before the world can end we must have 7 years of tribulation followed by the 1000 years of Christ's kingship on earth, then the judgment. So, the world can not end for at least another 1007 years.
Now all hell can break loose at any time, but that is not the end.

it was either the Mayans or the Aztecs. they supposedly saw it in the stars that the world was goin to end on December 22 2012. but according to the bible no one knows the hour or day of the coming of the son of man.

the Mayans. its a cyclical calender not a linear one. things don't end if they are on a circle.
