I was wondering what are the chances of a person who is in serious critical to return right into stable condition? Do the doctors give several factors on this? What do they base it on?(i.e elderly age vs young). I think it is about a 50/50 chance unless push comes to shove.

There are no criteria for this, and doctors only give those labels because the hospital administration makes them. And they're not going to waste their efforts changing these labels more than once or twice a day, if that. Doctors would much rather deal with the problems than take odds on the betting pool.
