yikes i just got a bichon/poo mix 2 weeks ago and I am having a terrible time housebreaking him. I take him out every 2 hrs to do his business and he just stares at me i walk around and when he does go i reward him. But he is still leaving tootsie rolls all over the house and wee wee spots. I have a bichon and I dont remember it being this difficult. My new puppy is also making a land mine in my backyard he is digging all the plants up. I am so frustrated and my hubby is not as patient as I am with him.. any suggestions on how to housetrain would be helpful.......

you didnt say how old this puppy is....
Take him to the same spot every time you go outside. Keep him crated inside, or leashed and attached to you at all times. No wandering.
Feed him 3 times a day so he's more predictable in bathroom habits.
When he goes outside, you must be with him so he doesn't have the opportunity to dig up the plants. Leaving him unattended outside OR inside is just asking for problems.
Dogs dont train themselves, you need to do this by reading his body language and behaviour. Get him on a schedule.
If you are fed up, it should be with yourself, not the puppy, he knows no better and looks to you for guidance. Sorry if this sounds harsh, its nothing personal.
Best Wishes

Maybe you could try some of those peewee pads, or newspaper on the floor for the puppy to do his business on. Spray the area with some of that puppy attracting spray, so maybe the puppy will go to the paper to pee pee. For the back yard, try putting moth balls around your plants and the puppy probably will not like the smell. If that doesn't help start punishing the puppy for digging up your backyard. Put him in a crate for several hours. You might even try this when he poops in your house. Good luck.

Pups go #1 and #2 every time there activity changes not how many hours or min. also crate training will help but do not put them in the crate if they have been naughty only to sleep or destress. Do not yell or smack them or tap there nose. look up dog training for a few hours you will find that you are not the only one it takes allot of time on the owners part to get a well behaved dog time time time good luck. I am dealing with a 4m old Sheppard at this time I know how you feel. Good luck
