anytime there is an accident. Your insurance wont do anything without a report.

Money and liability.
Because there is so much money involved in accidents say nothing of human suffering it is important to get to the truth. These reports are one way to get some of those truths gathered as soon as possible after the accident.

If police were dispatched to the accident, then more than likely there will be an accident report, unless your dealing with an officer that is inexperienced. Sometimes that does happen though
