If you are not keen on the anchor you should not get it fist of all. If you do go through with it the back would be a better spot for you, since you are not keen on it. You won't have to see it.
Tattoos are not trashy, that guy above me is just a narrow minded asshole.

Hi there. I agree with everyone that if you are not keen on something you should not be getting it.
In answer to your question though it depends on size and shape of your design. Anchors, as are a lot of things, can be drawn up many different ways and each one usually is to fit a specific body part with contours and grooves of your skin and muscle tone. I myself have an anchor on my inner bicep that was drawn specifically for that spot. I don't forsee there being any big problems with getting it on your back as long as it goes with the curve of your shoulder blade. The foot is always a sketchy place unless the artist does a rough outline of your foot and takes into account your bone structure.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

How about this...
Pick something appropriate for you - say you like dolphins. Have a tattoo designed for the roomie which prominently features the anchor but has a dolphin motif around it as a secondary feature. For you, make the dolphin the center, and some way to include the anchor theme as a "co-star".
I have no idea how to do that, but the basic idea is you see each other through your own eyes, not each others. The elements of each person are present in both, but the perspective makes for very unique & different final pieces.

i think of extra often than not your message gets throughout the time of, however the meaning of crossed anchors (a minimum of in a nautical experience) skill which you're a Boatswain's Mate. Being interior the army and a Boatswain's Mate, the crossed anchors characterize our fee (interest). we are seen expert mariners and the crossed anchors help to show importance of our interest. maximum BM's have crossed anchors tattooed on their arms (on the internet of the hand between the thumb and forefinger). that's seen an previous Naval custom to have this tattoo, yet in at present's army, tattoo's are actually not regarded on a similar and we are placing out to stray removed from the custom. i desire this techniques facilitates out.

First of all if you don't want a picture of a anchor then get something you want because it is going to be on your body for the rest of your life. I think that on you back behind the shoulder sounds better.

why an anchor? are you sailors? If you two insist on getting bonding tattoos, you should get one that you both are "keen" on. Something I thought about doing and in my opinion is a little more feminine and something you can live with, is a small pink heart on the left side of your chest where your heart is. But like I said, that's just me. Whatever you decide to do, really think it through, because a tattoo is something permenant

If you are not keen, don't get it! I'm sure others will tell you the same. I have 4 tattoos and love all of them. My first was with sorority sisters back in '92. We all got the same rose on our hip. It was so cool to do! But seriously, this is permanent. Go to the tattoo place and look at what they have. Pick one you both like or find meaningful.

that's a kewl idea but.....
considering its something your not to keen on the back would be better then the foot.
My question for you is - Why did you settle for the anchor idea?? you should choose something that both of you will be happy with tattoo's are forever unless you plan on some laser surgery.
Good luck...

are you seriously going to put something on your body PERMANENTLY that you are not keen on??
i am all for tattoos, but why would you go into a situation like this, when you already know that you don't REALLY want the design that you picked out??
please rethink this, because if you aren't keen on it now, imagine how you will feel about it once its on your skin.
get something that means something to you.
maybe you two could get different designs, but put them in the same location.
