I was always told using hair products like gel will eventually cause your hair to fall out.

Is this true? If so how?

To be honest, I don't really know. Perhaps the theory would be from the alcohol in the hair gel and it causing the hair to get brittle(?) I typically use styling mousse/foam myself. It's less irritating to my scalp which is very sensitive to all kinds of products and shampoo's anyway.

You have to let your scalp breathe! someone who wears a baseball hat constantly can subject themselves to long term damage too! As long as you can wash your hair AND scalp clean and leave FREE of products at least once a week, you'll be fine. Also stay away from gels w/ a lot of alcohol in them, they wil just dry it out and cause breakage, althuogh short term.
