It takes chemistry on mixing impression material and pouring up models. It reacts differently on if they are mixed out of sequence or with the temperature of the water used. Also the chemisry of heat and wetness of a mouth effects how sealants, restorations and flouride is taken. You also have to understand the pH of a mouth on educating patients on how to prevent cavities and how tarter forms. Chemisry actually has a lot to do with Dental Hygiene.
