In my area it is very costly and rarely (if ever) on sale. I love their vanilla swiss almond bars. I have to settle for them once in a blue moon as a treat. In the meantime I buy what tastes good enough and won't send me to the poor house as I eat lots of ice cream!

The real reason Haagen Dazs is so expensive is not only its quality but in the ice cream world there is something called over run it is a unit of measurement in ice cream to tell you how much air is incorporated in the ice cream. Haagen Dazs has almost no over run were other ice cream dos. If you were to take an half gallon of off brand ice cream and melt it you will have half the original volume of ice cream do the same with Haagen Dazs and the amount will be the same.

Haagen Dazs ice cream uses very good materials to make their ice cream. They MUST make it at large prices in order to be able to pay for all those materials

because it is a better brand of ice cream and more richer then the other leading ice creams. so if you want good ice cream, haggen das is the brand to go it is from germany

I agree .. It's super expensive here too (Hawaii) .. I buy one bar for $3-$4 .. BUT I love them :) .. good question .. I hope we find out the reason!

because the ingredients used to make it are expensive....that's why it tastes so good...enjoy it as a treat.....
