I have heard from several people that during Lent, you can do whatever you sacraficed on Sundays. I was just wondering if this had any truth to it, or if this is just what weak people do.

Yes, that has truth to it. The season of Lent doesn't include Sundays. It is 40 days long, but it doesn't include the Sundays in those weeks coming before Easter. Every Sunday is a day of celebration. It is a day of feasting rather than a time of fasting. Some people continue their fast on Sunday, but that is up to the person. Sunday is a happy time, and a time to feast. Easter is the time that we are preparing for in the season of Lent. Every Sunday is seen as a Little Easter. If it weren't for Easter, we wouldn't be worshipping on Sunday at all. It is because of the fact that we have a Risen Christ that we are Christians at all. So, yes, there is a great deal of truth to that. It's not got a bit to do with people being weak or strong.

Hi,
Sunday is a feast day, a day of celebration. On Sunday, the sacrifice that was established for the lent season is excused. Also, most parishes excuse the sacrifice on March 17th, St. Patrick's Day.
Enjoy!

I think Catholics are the major Lent observers who declare "Sunday is exempt." That adds up to 40 days, by the way.

Personally, I am withdrawing the whole time, because it's easier for me to completely abstain than it is to go on and off again.

"In Roman Catholicism, we exclude Sundays during the Lent season. Jesus Christ rose from the dead on a Sunday. So, fasting and mourning would be not right to do on Sunday. We should celebrate Jesus's resurrection for our salvation."

Remember that giving it up something is a personal matter and a personal choice, but for many they are not simply withdrawing from something but repenting of something hopefully forever. Similarly fasting is not fasting if you do not do it for a vowed period such as 40 days, unless you are vowing to go without something for 6 days at a time which somewhat loses it's splendor for many things.

Remember the Lord said not to make such vows in the first place but if you have made a vow to the Lord it is a sin against Him when you choose not to follow.
