It never ceases to amaze me how many people are willing to believe the rubbish written and shown in the media about obtaining "perfect" abs. There's really no big secret to it. everyone already has good, defined abdominal muscles, virtually every single movement you make involves the use of your abs at some point. The reason very few of us have that washboard look is simple, it's not natural. the majority of us have a thing layer of fat over our abs, even the healthiest and fittest of us.

If you really want to try and get that look then you need to concentrate on two areas, diet and cardio. The formula is simple, put less energy in than you consume.
Cut back on carbohydrates as much as possible and carefully monitor your energy intake. Couple this with a lot of cardio, making sure that you don't lower your energy intake to unhealthy levels where you don't have enough energy to work out or recover properly.

As your body fat levels decrease the abs will begin to appear more defined. As I've mentioned in numerous other answers, there really isnt anyway to spot reduce fat so you'll have to be happy with a gradual reduction in your body fat over a period of time.

Feel free to do as many crunches, leg raises, sit ups and whatever other stomache strengthening exercises that people are going to suggest to you, this will help strengthen your stomach muscles but it won't give you a six pack since that layer of fat will simply continue to sit over the top of them regardless of how big they get.

sorry it's not the answer your looking for, but it is the basic truth. Good luck with your goals man.

(P.S a more constructive Idea may be to start to try to build muscle around your chest, shoulders and traps, this will have the effect of making your stomach and waist area appear much slimmer.)

diet is more importnant then training when it comes to abs, so dont think doing 1000 crunches a day will make it happen, it wont, chances are, if you are a general healthy guy then your abs are most likely already there, their just hidden under one layer of fat, best way to get your abs poking through your shirt is to cut a few carbs from your diet, not all mind, dont do this daft no carbs diet, you'll need carbs as part of your general diet or you wont ahve the energy to train. just cut them out in the evening, i.e go for a nice staek, chicken breast or tuna with loads of salad, no potatoes or rice etc. your abs will be washboard in about 3weeks, beleive me, its how i got mine, nothing works like it!
good luck mate

howdy bro, i might say do greater cardio than heavy waits to get the fat burned away out of your abdomen and then initiate doing a lot of take a seat united statesand different ab artwork outs. consume a bigger breakfast so as that your physique thinks there's a lot of nutrients around and would not keep any of those calaries which you consume later interior the day. i think of that's the variety one mistake human beings make while attempting to get ripped is ingesting a small breakfast. Your physique thinks there's a loss of nutrients so it shops each little thing as survival nutrients for later. Get'r accomplished!

nonsense, wash board abs never came easy for anybody. are you over weight? Muscles need to be built up by adding resistance training. the last few weeks decrease your carbs intake and do high reps more then 8 min. feel the burn.

Do stomach crunches. Sit ups are alright, but you have to get bored bobbing up and down. At least with crunches you can do them anytime, anywhere. As for eating, you need protein and carbs. Lean meat, eggs, pasta and stuff. Let me know when you're sexy! ; )

A healthy, balanced diet with added protein supplements and a million stomach crunches. Keep it simple.

regardless of the training you need to substantially reduce the level of body fat to well below average levels.
