Help! My dog wont go into his doghouse! Nor will he come into the garage. Every time I put him inside the garage during incliment weather, he starts barking and scratching the door So I have to let him back out again.

He used to use the doghouse quite a bit, but now he has just abandoned it. This is really hurting me because he just sits outside on the grass even during a rain storm!!! Help! How do I get him back on track!

Man you guys are making me out to be a villian! I tried everything I could with him. Nice blankets etc. I think the skunk answer must be the reason. But still that wouldnt explain why he wont go into the garage anymore. He was happily sleeping in the dog house and the garage for years during incliment weather. Then for no apparent reason, he just decides to start barking and scratching the door to bits in the garage. He WANTS to be outside. I just cant force him to take cover when it rains. I just dont know what else to to!

When I trained my dog to go into her dog house we used treats and would say "kennel". Also you could pu a treat in there so they would go in.

Lol have you by chance let him in the house for awhile. If you have he wants back into the lap of luxury. Make sure his dog house is comfortable and insulated, a favorite blanket and of course a piece of comfy carpet. He'll get the idea sooner than later. Stay away from window when he's out. This way he doesn't see you and long for your company plus you won't feel guilty.

If the Husky is a young pup, that would be why. He's not yet equipped for the cold. But maybe he's justused to being inside. Or is he happy outside but doesn't want to go in the dog house? Maybe he likes the cold. Make sure he gets plenty of inside time and never leave him out in the cold if he doesn't want to be out there. My dog loves to be outside but only with me. Maybe he wants some company? Make sure the house is comfy for him and has toys in there. Teach him it's a fun place to be, it's comfy. But if he really just wants to be around you guys, you should let him inside. Bond with him. He needs it, he needs to respect you guys and love your family. later he will enjoy his alone time, but for now he wants to know what the new pack is like and the new "cave"(YOUR house).

did u look in the dog house it may have a cat or even a skunk in it, it may even be that it saw something frightining while in it looking outside to fix this u may want to replace the dog house or simply moving it across the yard. It may be looking for something he may have saw and waiting for it agian in this case u cant do anything except ignore him when he waits to go out side only let him out to let him go pee. after that bring him inside and dont let him out

You should have your dog outside in a rain storm. you should have him inside where it is nice and warm. that is neglect. would you want to be outside during a rainstorm. most dogs dont like storms especially thunder. so maybe you should take him inside when there is a storm. maybe he doesnt like doghouses or the garage. they may scare him.

Would you want to live in a dog house? Not me. I like people and need to be with them, so does your dog. Dogs are not solitary creatures - they need to be with their pack and you are their pack. Let your dog be inside , especially when the weather is too hot or too cold.

Poor dog...he's a pack animal sentence to a life of solitude in the back yard... he's probably making you feel guilty on purpose...bring him in the house and treat him like part of the family or give him to someone who will...
