You can mix and match your miles over the period that you have the vehicle. As long as you stay under the alloted total mileage you will not be charged.

What it means is that if you rented your car for 4 days at 200 miles per day then you have 800 miles to use before you have to pay for extra mileage. You can use 50 miles the first 3 days and 650 the forth if you choose.

Believe it or not, some of the rental agencies have a black box in the car, and when you take it back in they will scan the box and this tells them a couple of things, such as top speed you drove the car, number of times you started the car, and , milage from day to day. Call the rental agency and ask a rep, they are always more than happy to tell you. Oh by the way, if you exceed the speed limit by 15mph, the box alerts the agency and one agency charges a fine of $150 for excessive speed. Don't speed!

If your rental car has a GPS unit, 200 miles may mean 200 miles and they will charge you for the extra 100 miles.

Otherwise, don't sweat it.

They go by the total days divided by the total miles better average 200/day.
I didn't think anyone had to pay for milage.

NO, they are just looking at the average. Say 5 days would give you 1000 miles max.

No problem. e.g. if you have it for 5 days at 200/day, just keep it under 1000 total when you give it back.
