Hey Matt...Thanks for including the age. It actually does matter a little bit. OK, There are two possible explanations for your problem.
First, your girl might be playing hard to get. It a girly (read: childish) thing to do, but hey, girls (even at 40) still love to do it. It is a way of letting you know that she is not slutty etc. So, if she really is playing hard to get, the only way to win her over is to leave her alone. Don't call, don't text, and when you see her, just say hello and move on (I mean, don't be rude to her or try to make her think you don't like her...) . Give her some space, be patient and if she still wants to talk to you after a week or so, she likes you and you should ask her out.
Unfortunately, for the second reason I got some bad news...She might not really like you and is just thinking of ways to get rid of you. Girls are sneaky that way and will tell you anything to give you hope and not have to turn you down straight away (believe it or not, many girls find it hard to say NO straight out, no matter how uncomfortable the guy makes them. NO is an acquired skill that comes later in life and she probably hasn't mastered it yet.) Plus, by giving you hope, she will always have a plan B (C,D,E...) and don't blame her, cos guys are like that too. And despite the fact that she asked you out, she probably knew that you couldn't make it, or she invited you to a party where other people would be around so she wouldn't really have to be alone with you.
So, bottom line: If she is pretty, smart and POPULAR (key word) and you are not (popular), second explanation fits the bill and you should forget her! You got better things to do than getting pushed around by a 16y.o.
If she really likes you and just doesn't have time, you should give her some space, let her know that you are interested (by being nice to her), have patience and then try asking her out again in a few weeks. (or you can just come up with something like: When you see her, tell her that you are getting lunch and if she'd like to join you. If she makes up an excuse you are pretty much done)
GOOD LUCK!

ok ask her out next friday reason she likely be busy all week so try the weekend. do not ask her out the first probability you get reason that can make you look to be your obsessed. also locate out at the same time as she has no longer some thing to do on the weekends so that you adult men may have a date. If she keeps on turning down on your proposals for a date then she's way too busy for a relationship. per chance she in simple terms should be acquaintances reason she has no time for having a bf?

Just go visit her and bring some flowers for her and her mom then ask her if she would like to go for a walk in the park, talk to her and ask her out again. Make sure you take her somewhere nice. Some where you know she would like to go. Make sure you find out what she likes and what she is into. That will help find a place.

Make a date. Talk to her and see when it would be convenient for her. For instance, ask her what she's up to next week and proceed from there. I'm sure there's got to be time in the near future where both of you're available.

She doesn't take you serious, because you didn't go when she asked you. She thinks your all talk, when it comes to going places. Make sure "IF" she ask you to go somewhere you make time for her............Other than that, keep doin what you are doin.........
