We are having alot of kids at our 10th anniversary party. Its a formal evening affair and all but one of the kids are under 10 years. I was thinking of having the site place an extra table in the rear of the room and filling it will goody bags and crafts (neat crafts, nothing messy like paint or glue) and crayons, things for the kids to do if they get bored and want to wander over to take a break with other kids. I will be seating them with their parents for dinner, this wont be the "kids table" in respect to eating off to the side together and getting rowdy and being forgotten. Just something for them to do if they get bored. The party is a longer one, cocktail hour and dinner and dancing 4-9pm, so I figured they might get a bit bored by it all.
What do you think of this idea?

This is a great idea. I had a kid's table at my wedding (the same type you're talking about, not for eatting at). We included crayons, markers, activity pads, etc. We also had treats just for the kids. They were small things like popcorn and candy. The kids seemed to love it as much as the adults.

It sounds like a good idea. Not many people think of the kids that will be attending the party and the kids often get bored and tired and the parents will have to leave early. You have come up with a great idea and I think you should def. put your plan into action.

With that many kids, you may want to even hire a teenager to babysit. I think that many woiuld be a handful for the 10 year old "guest". Seeing as the party is planned until 9 PM, you might consider renting bean bag chairs or large throw pillows for some of them just to curl up and nap.

Definitely a really good idea. Even if they are too shy to sit at that table or mingle with other kids, they can bring some pictures and crayons back to their own table and sit and color or something, and stay occupied when they get bored.

I'd hang out with the kids myself in a party if it has crayons and stuff, the kids'll sure appreciate your idea. Ask them if you don't believe me.

It's a good idea. The kids might surprise you though by bringing their own entertainment-- hand held video games.

I think it's a great idea, plus, you could even try to enlist the one kid over ten (he or she might be already dreading the event since their the only one older) to 'babysit'; make him/her in charge and pay him/her, say 20bucks, for the eveing!
