I started in the car business when I was 20 and had no clue about anything. 10 years later, and alot of money made later, I can tell you some tricks of the trade that may help you out. First off, the dealership; CarMax is a nationally owned chain of stores, that last I knew was known mostly for one point pricing. Meaning they don't generally haggle on price. This may work for someone new, who may not be overly comfortable with negotiating with customers. The best thing to do is go with your gut. If you get a better feeling at one of the dealerships, chances are you are right. Secondly, the one thing to do is stay away from the water cooler talk. Most every sales person in the business has nothing good to say : "Sales suck, business is slow, my customers can't get financed, blah blah blah" After awhile, this generally starts to spread a cancer in the showroom, and the first ones effected are the newer salespeople. Keep your head down, and remember that selling is your own business. YOU are only going to get out of it what you put into it. Treat every single customer as they are the most important thing going on, because they are!!!! Customer's make your paycheck. Be honest with everyone, even if it means losing a deal. Soon, you will gain some conquest sales because your reputation is one that people can trust, something that can't be said for a very high majority of salespeople in the business. You should do whatever you can, upon starting to get your name out there. Go to area business, restaraunts, golf clubs, gyms, whatever. Post your business cards, drop them off anywhere you can. The best thing you can do, is when people are saying how much business sucks, you can know that you are doing everything to create a business for YOU!!! Remember this, it is not the customers job to remember your name, it is your job to never let them forget it.
Good luck in your career path, and look at it that way. Don't look at it as a stop along the way. If your succesful, you can make unlimited amounts of income, just be wary of the traps along the way.

Carmax is a no-haggle dealership and pays a salary rather than working for a commission.

First I'd learn to spell "Nissan", then I'd ask the dealer who is offering you a job if there are any requirements (like classes, or on the job training available).
