my ex is an alcoholic and suffers from bi polar disorder and is living on the streets. i sometimes go to where he sleeps...under a bridge. ive met some of the people that live under there and i do what i can to help them. i bring blankets, a tent food clothes. it just doesnt seem to be enough. i cant believe that in todays society that people are allowed to live this way. the police know but everyone just looks the other way. what can i do to help them

I feel a lot of sympathy for you! Yes, our government does almost NOTHING for addicts or the homeless, including children, other than locking them in jail! Good for you, helping people nobody else wants!

As for starting a foundation, try the website sixdegrees.com, started by Kevin Bacon. His foundation tells you how to become an activist for any cause, including over the web. Also, try contacting your local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous, or your County's Dept. of Mental health outreach program, to find organizations that may already exist in your area. Good luck...and don't give up the good work you're doing!
