yes it is.

my best friend is an ex. i've known him for 11 years now. i love him dearly, as much as i did when we were together. but we split because we realised that it wasn't *that* kind of love. and we both felt that we were an important part of each others lives, really wanted to make a friendship work in it's own right, not as a kind of 'well if i can't have you as a partner i'll make do with second best' thing. for us, the friendship IS the best.

i think if you split because one of you has hurt or betrayed the other, then it can be very hard to stay friends. the hurt or betrayal is still there between you. it can take time to get over that, and find that you like each other again. and it can be hard to change the rules... you have *rights* over a partner that you don't over a friend - the right to say certain things, expect a certain amount of attention or a say in what they do and don't do... i've managed it to a certain extent with a couple of exes, but not all of them. a couple of them (how many do i HAVE lol) i realised that i just didn't like them very much when the sex was out of the equation!

s*** no!

if you really loved them then of course you want him/her to be happy but how can you stand there hearing about how great someone else is when you really loved your ex, its taking the michael out of what you once had, sure being mates would be nice but @ the end of the day if you really loved someone a percentage of feelings will always be there no matter what. The best thing is to say what you want to say when you split be it nice or nasty then argue if needs be but in the end hug each other and wish each other well and then break all ties vut if you ever run into them again in life be civil and who knows if you both still feel for each other you maybe 2getha once more but you should break all ties, savour the good moments and keep them with you and then keep busy with work and nights out with your friends

Yes out of my five ex-boyfriends three of them and me are still friends. It all depends on the situation though. Some exs are impossible to stay friends with trust me!

Yes. You both have to be mature enough to accept that the relationship is over, but there must have been something there in the first place. There are lots of people who are really good friends, but that doesn't mean to say they are good in a relationship together.

Yep! Me and my ex-husband are great friends. We were just not meant to be together. This is a lot better for our 9 yr old son as well.
