How well does this phrase relate to psychology's role in marketing

At first i was going to say a smart n sassy answer but actually i guess you r right!!

Well, it's a really cool statement but it's not accurate because marketing remains a statistical game...no one can send me a direct mail that will have a high chance of getting me to buy...2% in direct mail isn't average...it's utterly amazing.

So I'm saying that psychology's role is still lousy and marketing's game isn't "how do I custom design ads that work" but instead "what is the cheapest way to reach the highest number of likely targets".
