Yeah. I had a friend in the 4th grade who had dyed her hair, but the roots looked really bad because she'd dyed it blond and her natural hair color was a dark brown.
You just need to take really good care of your hair and use some of the more expensive dyes so that it doesn't fade. And remember to choose a color that is very natural looking, not something like electric blue or neon green.

The age of twelve, or someone at the age of twelve? Anyways, I would say you could, but wouldn't recommend it. It is because dying it absolutely kills your hair. I have done highlights only twice now and straightened it some and my hair is absolutely fried. I don't recommend it, but if you really want to I would say that the only reason you shouldn't try it is because it will ruin your hair. Best of luck.

Yes of course anyone at the age of 12 can have their hair dyed but heres some advice.
- dont dye it to many times because you dont want your hair to become fryed ; frizzy; or dry
- make sure you use a good type of dye because some of the cheap dyes fade very quickly
- dont choose any bright colors you might want to stick to natural looking colors

well hope this helps!
kthnx bye!

WHY????

why do you want to f*** up your hair so early in life.

i dyed it at a young age and ruined a gorgeous head of hair. if you want to do that to yourself for a dye job no ones really cares about, that's your decision.

FYI: highlighting ruins your hair MORE than a plain dye job, because highlighting is a bleaching process. so the person who said to start off with highlighting just told you how to ruin your hair faster.

use no/ low ammonia color or henna if you are going to do it anyway

Of course! I'm twelve, and a lot of my friends are the same age and dye/highlight their hair at home or in salons. There's not really an age limit. =)
