I would get a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel because they are the best dog! They have such wonderful temperaments. My partners dad has two cavs and a beagle and they all get on fine. The only problem is cavs need a bit of grooming so if you don't have time to do that (you'd need to brush them at least once a week to get out matted hair and wash them every couple of weeks min.) then they might not be suitable. But they really are lovely little dogs. gorgeous

How about another beagle (obviously a fixed male or another female)? Otherwise, what about a lab or a lab mixed with something a little smaller? I'm a Lab lover, myself. Good luck!

PS I can't stand people like Mike who don't read the question and just go off an tangent!

Well, beagles are very territorial. so you might want to train Jackie to not become hyper with the new puppy. also, think of your lifestyle. do you have enough time to excersize and train a new puppy? think of these questions, then go on google and type in dog breed quiz. this will help with what puppy you should get. hope this helps!

p.s. my all time favorite dog is the australian shepherd. they are easy to train, won't BEG for excersize, easy to groom, and don't eat a ton. however, this dog does need lots of work, so make sure you're compatible with it if you decide to get one... :)

Labs have been the top ranked dogs for quite a while. My current lab is a 50 lb female and the one before her was a 45 lb female. If you have kids, they are super friendly. If you have space and time to let your beagle run, a Lab will keep right up with her.

my best friend has a beagle that was abused in her first home and she was horrible with other dogs. she would bark and try to bite any dog that came near her. when my friend put her with another beagle she was fine and has come a long way. these arent the smallest of dogs, but they are still a decent size. keeping them with the same breed is never a bad choice.

Most any dog that isn't in the terrier group or working group. Birding dogs, such as Spaniels, Labs, Goldens, or Hounds, such as another beagle, basset, PBGV, or whippet, are all sociable dogs, good in a pack. .Samoyed's are also good with other dogs, as are Shelties.

Beagle is in the hound group, so I would go with another dog in the same group so that they share hound characteristics. The beagle's size is smaller than most in that group. I would suggest a harrier, basset, or a pbgv, or smaller hound mixes.

Go to the pound and pick up a loving friendly dog! You will be saving a animals life. All of my pets have either been strays, dumped off at our road and left to die or animals that were dropped off at the pound. They have all been and are being the best, most loving pets they can be!
