I have been analyzing myself for a while. I noticed that I like to live my life with reason, logic and common sense. I also feel that stupidity is an annoying trait for anybody to possess. So am I really an Atheist at heart? What about a LaVeyan Satanist at heart? I do tend to agree with certain things that LaVeyan Satanism stands for. Or am I simply a human being who is Agnostic and believes in living life a certain way? So what says you the jury? Have fun with it? My feelings will not be hurt at all? Just try to be somewhat respectful okay. I do like certain religions such as Taoism, Buddhism, Shintoism, and certain religions as that as well.

You are an intelligent and thoughtful person. You use your intelligence to actually think for yourself. No idiotic religious dogma will ever fool you through fear.

I am not fond of labels. Mostly because I do not fit into any one category myself. I say just follow what makes sense to you. Speak up for the rights of those targeted by religious idiots. Teach your children to seek the truth, whatever they find it to be.

Good question.
Based on what you wrote here, I wouldn't suggest you to try and get into any of the religions that require belief in something illogical, like for example paganism or also Buddhism.
You sound to me as an atheist or more likely agnostic, because you keep an open mind.
On the other hand, if you trust mainly into yourself and if you're focused on enjoyment in this life, not earning credits for whatever comes after it, LaVeyan seems to be the right choice for you.
But I strongly advise against introducing yourself as a satanist, laveyan or anything else, because - well, you see the reactions you're getting out of people.
Before you explain to them that satanists don't believe in satan, they will have you soaked in gasoline and fingering the matches...

Well, looking at the types of things you've posted and the list of religions you agree with, it seems to me that you seem like the type of person who believes in certain philosophies regarding human existance. You do not have to join any certain religion to hold these philosophies. You can even hold these philosophies and still follow logic and reason (in fact, it is infinitely better that you do) because philosophies regarding how we should live and better ourselves are simple beliefs that do not contradict any science.

However, your like of religions such as Buddhism, I'll be honest, seems kind of out of place with your like of LaVeyan Satanism. From the research I've done on the two, they seem to have differing points of view... Buddhism asks to not talk and act in hurtful ways, while LaVeyan Satanism follows the principle of Lex Talionis, treating others the way they treat you.

There is no shame in creating your own belief system by picking and choosing from others... just make sure you don't pick ideas that will eventually contradict themselves or else you'll be very confused.

You are a human...all humans have a spiritual need that is what sets us apart from animals. Even those who turn away from organized religion have probably felt that need at one time or another. The way you describe yourself actually describes the traits that Jesus had and what drew people to him. Many "Christian" religions today fall short on logic and reason but not all do. I don't know much about the things you mentioned, I found sound reason and logic in my choice of religion after I explored a few alternatives. Use your mind and common sense to find where you should be. feel free to e-mail me if you want to.

No matter what religion or no religion you and I and everyone is, this is instilled in all of us...many just choose to ignore it and feel ignorance and stupidity is a way of life. We all have a brain, it's up to you how you want to use it...however from what we can see, the world is in turmoil and is going downhill fast. Many have a "no care" attitude, there's too much violence, crimes and more. It's up to individuals what they want to do in order to preserve an earth filled with righteous, caring people. The best way to do that is to think logically and find out where we, you and I came from and why we are here.

Instead of running around trying to pick a religion that's "right for you", why don't you use your brain to think and realize that none of them is the truth? However you choose to see the world around you is fine, though, it doesn't matter in the end.

I don't know what LaVeyan Satanism is, but it sounds like a good way to keep from getting invited to birthday parties.

Like most here Seal, I wonder why you need a label at all?

Or perhaps just call yourself a 'seeker' or whatever?

After all, we are all defined by what is in our hearts and minds (not that I believe in that Dualism stuff!). Some people give that a name, others do not. Personally I choose not to.

Though now Pangel has come up with "Satatoabudshintism" I'm kinda tempted! Thanks P!

I believe you are an open-minded person, and I think that's a good trait for anyone to possess. I agree to an extent with what you've said, but it's not stupidity that annoys me, it's willful ignorance. Stupidity can't be helped, I pity the stupid, but I certainly don't hate them. Ignorance on the other hand, requires a lifetime of self-deprivation and self-imposed naivete, it's a disgusting trait.

Well if you really want a definition it would be nice to know your stance on the existence of a deity. That it the major thing between atheism, agnosticism, and theism. Then you might need to describe the god if you believe in one.

Everything you describe is philosophy, not religion.

given that I don't know you at all and I only had a cursory glance at your profile and questions but from my perspective you not agnostic per se but rather still looking for a religion that somehow fits you or satisfies a need you have. In that light I would probably call you an undecided deist or theist ;)
