No one likes paying tax, but it is reassuring to know that health care, education, roads, army, police, fire service, ambulances, coastguards, pensions, etc are there.

It's a bit like "What have the Romans ever done for us?"

Only move to Andorra, if you want to live in a giant duty free shop.

Yes we are compared to what the community gets back. for example i was watching on the news today that many of Londons small museums are to close due to the cuts in funding however the next news item was that the beloved major Ken wants to place sculptures around London welcoming people into the capital at the expense of the taxpayer wheres the logic in that!? can't afford the museums but can afford an angel of the south. I can understand that we have to be taxed but why is so much of the money that it generates is being flushed down the toilet? The small problem with your 30million plan is that 30million people will agree with you in private but will not speak out as one.

also immigration is a big drain - some councils give immigrants more that the locals

I really dislike paying Tax- I'm 23 and pay around £400 a month in tax! I would prefer a pay as you go scheme. At least we will know where the money goes!

Wait and see what will happen when Mr.Gordon Brown become Prime Minister. I am sure that this will be the beginning of additional tax increases.

We pay far too much taxes!! I would expect to pay these kinda taxes in some exotic paradise! We are on a rock in the north sea!!!
