My boyfriend will say that he will come over. I always ask for a time that way if I need to run an errand I can. If we have no plans to go anywhere and will just be hanging out, he doesn't want to be restricted to a time. So, this is how it goes: He will say between 11 and noon. These are examples of what happens:1.) he calls at 2 and either cancels or says he's on his way, 2.) he shows up at 1, 3) he doesn't call or show up, 4.) he calls at 4 and says he will be over around 9 or 10. I find this rude and unacceptable. However, he feels that I am trying to control him by requiring a time and expecting him to not only be on time but to not cancel. My suggestion to him was to not say that he will come over and to just call when he is going out the door to come over. So, am I too demanding or is he not dependable? His excuse is that if we are not doing anything then being on time and actually showing up are not important.

Yes, he is being unreliable. And he thinks he can get away with it.

Next time he says "I'll be there between 9 and 10.."; hold him to it. If he's not there by 10:15, leave and do something. When he calls say "Oh, I figured you weren't coming since you never called to say you'd be late."

It sounds like this b/f of yours needs a dose of reality. Not only is he unreliable but he is very inconsiderate. Anytime someone claiming to be your boyfriend pulls this sort of stunt I would give it right back to him...call him on it and tell him that you find his actions unacceptable. For him to accuse you of being controlling is simply what he's trying to do to YOU by making you wait around from him. I don't think he would appreciate if you did this to him.

If he keeps up these games, I would give him the boot unless he can make you his first priority and learns how to be considerate instead of a genuine jack-a$$. Good Luck to you!
