I like the question. Also, if God is all good, why did he create hell? If God is all knowing, then he already knows where we are going when we die, so is this life an exercise in futility?

God supplied to Adam and Eve everything they could ever need. The so called ' forbidden fruit' apple or whatever, was a simple request to be obedient.
It could just as easily have been " do not go outside the garden.
The Bible terms it '
(Genesis 2:17) But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”
The tree of knowledge of good and bad.
No apples.
By not touching the tree, Adam and Eve would not be able to know what is bad.
But they did. And the penalty was to eventually die.
Adam and Eve had free will. They had to make a decision to obey, regardless of the "tree".
If there had been no tree, no decision would have had to be made. They would just have been like robots or automatons.
They had to decide things for themselves. So they were given a choice.
Just as today, we can choose to break the law or not.
And we know the consequences.
So did they. They were warned what would happen if they touched the tree.. They would die.

No I would not let my kid play out in traffic. Yes God loves his children. Even though God knew what Adam and Eve would do, He still let them choose. I think Adam and Eve were testing God to see if what he said would really happen. And don't forget, the devil was the one that told them the fruit was ok to eat. And they choose to listen to the devil instead of God.

Through man, the entire universe will see that choosing God is the best way. Though Adam and Eve were tempted in the garden, a Way was already formulated for their salvation. In the end those who have accepted God receive eternal life along with an universe filled with such goodness that the mind can not even comprehend it.

I find your question very offensive and very naive! I am a Christian an on 12/11/06 while walking across the street with my family I was hit so hard by a car that I flew on the roof and was hanging on for a 1/2 of a block! I survived, of course....but I have many injuries as does my husband who say the accident....running after the car to screaming "Please, stop!" The car did, hard enough for me to fall off then he drove off. I am a Christian and God did spare my life....what about the man driving the car? Is he a Christian? I don't know, but I do forgive him and I pray for him nightly!
Please, don't ask stupid questions just for the sake of not believing and you want to 'prove a point or start a debate'.....that is a really, really horrible question.
God bless you
To your response....what?! Come on! Yes, He did know I would get hit; it's not about that. It's about giving God the glory even in the times of horror! I love Him, and through the bad the good does come! What good happened because of the accident is unreal! He has provided for my family in so many ways that I never could have thought of! We do have free will....this is satan's playground now! God knew I'd get hit and he had things set in motion to provide for my family in ALL ways months before....He loves me, I love HIM. IT's not for my understanding WHY it happened, bad things DO happen!! IT's how we give the Glory to God through the good and the bad that matters!

no i would not let my child play in traffic. but this example cannot be comared to the adam and eve predicament. God created us with free will so eating the fruit did give us knowledge of sin but put us in permanant danger.

you have to show your child the 'traffic' for them to know to stay out of it, correct? that is why God said, do not eat of the fruit of the Tree of Life... remember, they were not children, they could know and decide and have free will... but they couldnt listen to their Father, just like earthly children don't listen to their parents a lot of the time. I want to know why adam and eve didnt just listen so that we didnt have to suffer their punishments as well!

God does love us in that He gave us an opinion,He said don't touch or we shall surely die,but He was talking spiritually but sin also brought sickness so now we also die physically. He wants us to chose to love him not be forced.
