I was given a drop dead gorgeous wedding dress free.. the catch was , it has a tiny cigarette burn on the front. It's 1/4 the size of a dime. Can a dry cleaner or seamstress fix this? Anyone out there have any advice? thanks so much!!

There is a certain amount of "you will be the only one to notice it."

Still I would suggest contacting a professional seamstress. It is possible to take a piece from the turned up hem or a seam and mending from the back so the hole is much less visible, depending on the type of material and location, yes, possibly even "invisible".

It depends on what the dress is made of. If the burn is on fabric, a seamstress may be able to re-weave it. If it's on lace, it can be patched unnoticeably. If it's not burned through, and the dress is white, there's a possibility of it being bleached out.

where is the burn? is it something that can be covered by lace or beading or something? is it going to show up in a picture? you can take it to a seamstress (dress shop would be a good place to check) and ask them for their advice.... hope it works out for you!

Can you cover it with some type of embellishment or design? Honestly, the only person who will notice it will be you. If you can't get it fixed, make sure you position your flowers to cover it and when you take wedding photos, just have the photographer touch up the pics.

Many dressmakers do invisible mending, try your yellow pages for either dry cleaners with that service or for dressmakers.

Why don't you have them embroider a white flower or a piece of lace over it. No one will even notice.
