Try getting a job, and then applying for your own credit card... I wouldn't let my kid use my credit card either!

Maybe your parents just don't want you wasting your money.

Have you talked to your parents about how you intend to pay them back if you did use their card? Maybe if you found something you really wanted, you could pay them in advance for it so they already have the money you are about to spend and then ask THEM to make the transaction for you.

I would not let my kids have my credit card either but I did make a few transactions for them once I had verified that the website was legitimate and they weren't getting ripped off (or conversely, I'd get ripped off because it was a scam website that only wanted my credit card number).

Other than that, your options are pretty limited for on line buying. You'd need a pre-paid Visa or something. Most banks sell them but frequently charge a fee for them to purchase them and some of them also charge monthly fees so make sure you understand what you're buying before you buy it.

Yes, you can go to the mall's customer service center and buy a pre-paid gift card with a major logo. Then use that card to make the online purchases. That way you have a card you can use online and your parent's don't have to worry about you running up their bill or someone stealing their credit card info.

Hi!
Well..it varies quite a bit from prepaid credit card to card.

I was disturbed to learn today I was not able to see a full disclosure of the greendot prepaid card so common in many stores. It seems to me that is wrong...and..quite posibly illegal as well.

The problem with prepaids I have seen full disclosure on..they are fee-o-rama. not only is there a activation fee..they may be monthly fees, transaction fees and (you guessed it) money load fees as well.

I cannot confirm if or if not the greendot has transaction fees.

However..I can tell you it is minimum $20.00 to put on the card the first time..a $9.95 activation fee and a $4.95 reload fee.

I will email them later about this..and have a chat with the FTC about this as well.

A prepaid card means you pay a certan amount, so then that's how much credit you have on it. It's already paid.

You can sometimes ask a merchant to hold your stuff until you send them a check and the check or money order clears.

Save your money and get the prepaid card. That's your best bet.

Good luck.

Prepaid cards are good up to the amount of money put on them, so that would be an avenue for you to pursue.

If you have a savings account then you can use PayPal in order to purchase something online where they will accept PayPal as payment.

Some companies will also take Western Union or check but it just takes longer for you to get credit.

Good Luck

The way I would do it is buy an American Express gift card with your own money. It comes with a specific card number so it can be used like a credit card.

unless it is on ebay...u send them a money order when your item arrives.
U can work for your parents, dishes, yards, wash cars and then
let them see what u want online and they will type in their credit card info.
