It's French & very unique. GRANDPRE. I would like it, but I don't because the man on my birth certificate is not my dad, & my mom lied to us.

Doing genealogy, we all like to find who we really are. So yeah, what you are saying, is frustrating.
However.. it is sad, but many times, moms feel that they have a good reason for this. Usually to protect you. Hopefully you can give her the benefit of the doubt, for the time being, and somewhere down the road, ask again with compassion and an open mind. You never know the whole story.
I send you a hug. Genealogy is fun... but love is far more important.

I wouldn't like it either 'cause if is not your fathers' name, you can always change it...just file a petition to change your name in court and a judge will grant your wish.
