yeah you are frying it
try doing some days curly and some days straight to give your hair a bit of a rest
but when you straigten it use a hair spray before you use the straightener...like there is one from matrix and herbal essences, a whole bunch of brands

You probably are, but here are some tips to keep from frying your hair too much!
1) Let your hair go natural some days. Curly hair is sexy hair! If it's a little out of control, use a good gel, mousse or curling product (any drugstore has plenty, look at the labels to see what you need)! Sunsilk has really effective products.
2)Continue washing your hair every-other-day. This keeps your hair from drying out, washing it everyday strips the oils out of your hair.
3)Use a deep-conditioning treatment (and I'm not recommending mayonaise). Every other time you wash your hair or so, or just once a week, use a conditioner that is meant to help repair your hair. Or at least switch to a shampoo and conditioner that are restoring (Pantene, or again Sunsilk (the pink bottles, I believe).
4)Invest in a heat-protecting spray. Treseme has a cheap one that you can buy at any drugstore or Target/Walmart etc.

Straightening hair has become such a popular styling option. However, it does require some preventive maintenance. I have seen many heads of hair torched by habitual flat-ironing. Here are some suggestions to hopefully keep your hair from being yet another heat styling victim. * Alternate between protein and moisture treatments to keep your hair healthy. (ex. Bed Head Dumb Blond for protein and moisture, Redken Extreme Anti-Snap for leave-in protein, and Redken AllSoft for moisture.) * Shampoo and condition every other day or less. * Use only enough heat to acheive the results you desire. It's not always necessary to use high heat settings. * Always use a heat styling product to buffer the heat styling and coat the hair with a protective layer. ( ex. GHD heat styling sprays) * Inspect the qualities of your flat iron. The best tool on the market is the GHD styler; the technology is amazing. GHD has addressed nearly all of the industries concerns regarding regular heat styling. Check them out on YouTube - search terms: GHD. * Finally, get regular trims to remove any damaged ends. Much luck.

You could be the best way to prevent this from happening is to use a heat protectant. Beyond the Zone is a good choice when it comes to heat protectants. Or if you think your hair is already fried try using a type of clarifying shampoo. It is a little more costly but not by much and it should restore your hairs moisture. Hope that helps :D

I'm obbessed with straightening my hair. I straighten it every single day for about a half hour on full heat. But, I protect it. In the shower, I use Aussie's Three Minute Miracle everyday to protect, and when I get out of the shower, I spray on TreSemme Heat Protector Spray. My hair never looks fried. =]

You need products to protect against the heat.
When my hair is damp out of the shower, I apply Loreal Paris Hot Straight to my hair. This protects against the heat and helps to straighten the hair. I then blowdry my hair with a diffuser and then use the flat iron.

a good hair conditioner and leave it at least 30 minutes wrap around a warm towel or a plastic wrap. Mayonnaise is great. If you don't want to use mayonnaise go to Sally's beauty supply and ask them for a good hair conditioner. They even sell them in small envelopes so you only buy a couple to try them before you get the bigger bottle.

Use straight-iron spray! It protects your hair from the heat. You can buy it at Wal-Mart or pretty much any beauty store for $4-$5.
I like the Tresemme kind the best, or however it's spelled. It smells good.

absolutely!
but a great straightener can lessen the damage.
make sure to invest in a high class straightener, such as a turmaline or a blue sapphire ( folica.com has all of them ) and use a heat protection spray ( frederick fekkai and Redken have those )

well i straighten it everyday and i shampoo it everyday too. but then i think i am frying my hair because i dry it as much as i can but it's still not completely dry so when i straighten it, it makes a sizzling sound that sounds like i'm frying it. then sometimes it smells burned so i would refrain from straigtening it everyday like i am.
