Why do Chihuahuas shiver/shake so much?

There are many reason chihuahuas shake.

They are a small dog and their metabolism is higher than a big dog. So when a chihuahua is nervous, afraid, excited, happy etc, they shake.

They can also shake because they are cold or because they have low blood sugar (some do, but not all of them by any means).

And some chihuahuas shake more than others.

One reason could be they are cold, because they are so tiny, but i think it's because they are nervous/weren't socialized right as a pup. My chihuahua isnt like that and i like to tell myself it's because I made sure to get him used to new experiences at a young age. A lot of owners dont take the time to do that and subsequently get a nervous/shaky dog.

I love my chihuahua and I don't know why. And I started to put her in sweaters. Gah, she looks so adorable and she's reduced the shaking, but she still shakes a lot.

Their bodies are very small and petite, that's one reason. They also don't have a lot of fur to keep them warm. I suggest a coat or shirt, that's what I do for mine!

well, i know its not because their cold or anything. but my friend used to have one, and hers would shiver alot too. i think its just in their nature.

unlike other dog families, the chi family is classified for having low body fat which makes them get colder easier. OH and crack smoking too.
