you have to eat at work for a start. all that activity is burning off your food intake from your breakfast and because you have not eaten dinner you have nothing to provide energy. therefore your body takes it from your muscle and anywhere else it can get some from.

high protein is always good to develop muscle tone but carbs are best for energy,
pasta and bread, potatoes are good for working periods.

protein for breakfast, eggs, bacon etc.
you need fruit and veg to be healthy and keep nastiness like cancer at bay.

if you really cant eat much then do your best and have build up drinks that you can get from your pharmacy.

even better than that see your GP who will refer you to a dietitian, he/she can take you through a healthy program and keep track of your progress.

good luck, i hope you achieve your goals. it must be really hard to put weight on for you x

Eat a good variety of food, take a big lunch to work. Drink plenty of none alcoholic drinks, especially when you are working. You don't say what you weigh, but wanting to gain 4 stones is very specific, be careful you don't simply put fat on. What is your trade? Being active is not sufficient to build up muscle, if your activity is all light, you will not stimulate your muscles to grow. How old are you? Young men are often skinny, I was, muscle is slow to gain. Are you really as skinny as you think? It is getting quite common for young men to think that their bodies are too thin, you may simply be thinking you are too thin. If you smoke, stop, this has an adverse effect on your bodies ability to heal, fight off infection, and is not going to improve your ability to gain muscle. Weight lifting is considered the best way to gain muscle, and the muscle is good useful muscle. Perhaps you should go along to a gym?

What ever you don't just eat loads! You may just have a high metabolic rate so eating loads of crap will not help. My brother has a similar problem. He went to the Dr and was advised to eat 3 meals a day but to have 2 or 3 snacks in between each meal, such as fruit, cakes, sweets etc. He was also advised to drink whole milk. The Dr also told him to exercise regularly. However my advise would to be to go and speak to your GP as there may be a different cause to you being so skinny. If you do not want to do this then follow the advise that my brother was given.

Note that my brother is not anorexic or bulimic.

wel john i was the same to cut a long story short do you smoke as i did smoke 40 a day and was like a rake i stopped for 3 mnths but i got stressed and now smoke about 10 per day but when i stoped i started eating a lot more and i have kept that up i eat pks of sweets every day i have a breakfast dinner tea and supper and eat inbetween as well i could never put weight on but had put 1 and a half stone on in 3 mnths so if you do smoke cut down as that makes you thin.good luck.anne

My friend had this problem too. Drop into your Pharmacy & there are formulars in powder form that you add milk to & they help you gain weight quite easily.
Like a 'Loose weight diet', It works if you stick with it.'
When you do start to gain some weight, perhaps if you go to a gym or tone up in the way you choose would also help as muscle weighs more than fat, so you'll & feel look good too!

eat at work...just do it!
exercise because it builds muscle and makes you hungry
don't worry about being skinny just be healthy...eat good food
exercise regularly and get lots of sleep...if you are smoking then that may contribute to your problem. Being skinny is ok if you are healthy...focus on being healthy...the healthy body that is what
people will see...they will not see the skinny if you have good habits and see you care for yourself enough to be healthy. Being healthy is attractive...healthy personality, healthy eating habits, healthy exercise habits are very appealing...so be healthy!

(after consulting a physician, obviously) the healthiest way is to eat a diet high in protein and develop an exercise regimen to build muscle.

I've heard that those protein shakes at the health food store are really good for that.
