Can a change in food preference be a sign of an illness? And does anyone know what could a sudden and unwanted aversion to bread and pasta mean?

Hi,

There are a few known examples of changing food preferences aligned with a medical condition...Here I'm thinking mainly of the faddy food likes and dislikes of women during pregnancy, which is fairly well documented.

There are a few others, the aversion to water by people who suffer from Hydrophobia as a result of being bitten by a rabid animal.

Overall, though, despite the often sudden aversions we all sometimes suffer, especially in children, who will happily eat or drink certain foods and then, without warning, develop an instant hatred for the same stuff overnight I don't think these are associated with any medical condition. If you have developed an aversion I would accept it and not worry too much.

There is some research on the tastes of diabetics who sometimes develop a very severe aversion to sweet foods (often after craving them for years and being denied because of the possibility of affecting their diabetes badly.)

I'm not sure that any definite medical link has been proved.

It is more likely that an aversion to bread and pasta has developed because of a (maybe forgotten) experience where the eater felt sick, or even vomited after eating and his mind associates the type of food with being sick. (However that's a pure guess and definitely unproven)

Hope that helps,

BobSpain

You might put "Pica" in a yahoo or Google search. Pica is a craving to eat non-food items like news paper and charcoal. Usually having pica means there is some missing vitamin or mineral in the diet, or the individual can not absorb the vitamins or minerals.

On a medical site there might be food phobias (fear/dislike) and what they indicate. Both pasta and bread contain Gluten and many people can not tolerate gluten in their diet.

because of the fact there are various judgements to make a call from, yet that still relies upon on the place the guy lives. If a individual lives in a great city the place they're surrounded via many (good tasting) risky ingredients they could be lots extra possibly to consume it. If a individual would stay in a rural place the place maximum ingredients are organic and convey then those human beings would be ingesting very healthful food. in the cities i think of a few human beings consume healthful because of the fact of it incredibly is advantages to the physique it cautioned in the media abundantly approximately ingesting healthful because of the fact of it incredibly is advantages. it is likewise extra acceptable because of the fact it fairly is way less severe priced to cook dinner healthful straightforward food than to circulate to a quickly nutrition or order from the homestead. i think of there are various behavior of ingesting because of the fact a million.their selections 2.their understanding of nutrition and 3.theory and ideology such vegan and that style of stuff. wish this helped and robust success.
