I feel, distressingly, that Christianity is not what it was 30 years ago. Not when you have those in the hierarchy of the denominations challenging the very words of the Bible. In my own denomination, I felt Bishop Spong should've been relieved of his duties for his blasphemy. I know the Episcopalian church is very divided and I look for that to continue across the board for all denominations.

When it's rotten at the top, it is sure to filter down through to the bottom. I feel, as Christians, it is time for us to take back our churches and demand a return to the truth.

Mainline denominations looked at their dwindling membership rolls and decided in order to attract more bodies they had to change, not even noticing that the independents who stand firm on the truth are growing by leaps and bounds. I think they need to sit up and take notes.

I also agree with the other poster here, too. I am not crazy about being identified as belonging to one denomination or another. We should all be the body of Christ, no matter what name gets pinned on us.

In the 80s a movement started in the church called the prosperity gospel meaning God wants you to be rich and happy and not much else.

Yes the church has compromised a lot of values to be popular and "hip" with the world here is the truth the church should be influencing the world NOT the world influencing the church.

I think it is sickening and sad that financiall seminars in the church have taken the place of godly intercessory prayer it is like the old saying goes where you treasure is your heart also.

I feel the church needs to get back to the basics of prayer evangelism and not bow its knee to every movement and "fad" that comes a long.

Yes, it's all about numbers nowadays. Get as many in the seats, preach only love to them, and pretend like they're saved. It has become big business. You can't even walk into a church now without them trying to sell you something, from coffee, to books, to T-shirts...you name it, everything is for sale. It has become a den of thieves and this is prevalent in nearly every church and every Christian denomination. Church has become an entertainment act feeding the masses who are starved for truth, but instead get crumbs.

I see the Churches for what they have become. I'm sure there are churches that follow God's word, but they are few and far between. I am quite certain their attendance is dismal as well.

I think many denominations are trying to be 'politically correct' instead of standing upon the Word as Total Truth... it is compromising what is True for 'being nice' or 'accomodating' ... tho, you will continue to see a bigger split in churches... those who 'bend' to the world... compared to those who stand upon The Rock, and Him alone

Denominational christianity is a counterfeit, hypocritical abomination of what Christ started.
Does that sound strong?
Denominational christianity is the fulfillment of Acts 20:29,30:
"I know that after my going away oppressive wolves will enter in among YOU and will not treat the flock with tenderness, and from among YOU yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves."

There is only one kind of Christianity. Others who call themselves Christian but practice a man made religion are not Christians in the real sense.><><><

Not at all. At least not the Episcopal Church, the United Methodists The Presbyterian Church USA and some Lutherans.

Some of them are nominally Christian at best nowadays, and some individual congregations are downright pagan.

It's evolving.

Jesus wasn't exactly politically correct, but he was very humanistic and a reformist.

DENOMINATION IS WRONG BECAUSE IT SEPARATES US CHRISTIANS FROM ONE ANOTHER, IF WE ALL BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE AND JESUS IS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR WE SHOULD BE IN THE SAME BOAT NOT SEPARATED BY A DENOMINATION THAT MEANS NOTHING!!!!!!
