At my college, I live with this girl who I think is absolutely weird and totally disgusting. I see her all the time. Sometimes, I greet her, and she'll greet me back. But, usually, if I don't say hi to her, then she won't say hi to me.
I'm wondering if I should keep saying hi to her. I don't really like her, and I don't think that she likes me. Everytime, I speak to her, it's totally awkward and she's totally disgusting.

I would say hello. You are not being forced to be her friend or anything, but imagine how she must feel. If she is strange, then she probably doesn't have many friends. By you saying hi to her, it may just be the one thing she needs. And by the way, you mentioned you were in college? Well, it sounds like you are behaving a little bit like highschool still. Grow up a bit, and have a little compassion for others- you'd be surprised how it has a wonderful, positive effect on your own life!

Why bother to say anything to anybody who,in your own words,is absolutely disgusting
By saying 'Hi',you are potentially inviting conversation and why you would wish to converse with this person sounds illogical.
It's quite easy to ignore someone and not illegal-yet.

Acknowledging someone you know has never killed or scarred anyone.
You don't have to be chatty with her, just acknowledge her existance and the fact you know who she is.
You could be called a snob for refusing to speak to people who don't meet your standards. Are you one?

Depends where you are at. At work you should say hi to everyone. Anf if not, do what you want.

It would be nice and pretty classy if you said "Hi" and were nice to her. But no laws in the US forcing people to be nice.
