Does epilepsy affect certain populations more than others?

it seems that if you look through history that the male population seems to develop it more frequently. But epilepsy can be brought on by many factors and at any age/sex elderly seem to get it more but as a result of stroke/Alzheimer's/Parkinson's.

Any very young children have epilepsy more males but still there are at least a dozen childhood epilepsy syndromes/disorders that CAN but rarely effect the adult population and by 13-18 children in some cases can become seizure free one is always epileptic but my be in remission.
