Before you can attempt to prove or disprove the existence of anything, you need a definition of your topic. Therefore you need a definition what god IS. If you have nothing but the name "god" you will not get far, if everyone imagines something different under that name you cannot hope to get anywhere.

But I'll give you some hints to start with:
If you start from a "standard" definition of a god, that is an "omnipresent", "omniscient", "omnipotent", "singular" creator, manipulator etc. etc., it is rather easy to disprove its existence. For example "omnipotence" is obviously an absurd concept, ("can god invent an unsolvable task?"). Omniscience is equally absurd and can be easily reduced to absurdity with Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. And for example the notion that god is singular ("there is only one god") can be countered with the argument that there are numerous religions on earth. If there was only one all-powerful god, obviously there also could be only one religion.
This should get you started. Prepare to be bashed and misused if you push it through, though.

List the arguments and evidence for god. Now apply reason to those arguments and evidence and watch it disappear. You now have no arguments or evidence. This does not disprove God (but you can't disprove something that doesn't exist), but shows how it's not a requirement.

My first thought is what school is allowing this sort of paper to be written in this day and age?
I thought God was thrown out of the classroom?

Anyway, there are no arguments to disprove the existance of God. Any you may receive are bogus. You cannot disprove something that is real, no matter how hard you may try. Oh, sure people are gonna give you goofy websites but how can you prove something just by some wacko's say-so? Man knows nothing, even less, apparently, than I thought before taking part in this forum.
Good luck if ya think I'm wrong.

Two things:
First of all, Darwin was devout.
Secondly, a schoolteacher is making someone who believes in God write a paper disproving his existence? That will never hold up to anyone's standard of decency. How awful. I would get him to let me write a paper on why I feel it's wrong to misrepresent such a fundamental part of my beliefs.
I don't even believe in God, but I would never force my students to write papers that contradicted their religious beliefs. That is SO immoral.

There are no "aruguments" to prove or disprove the existence of God. There is no verifiable data for either case.

It would take too long to list all the arguments here, but I can recommend some good resources.

Richard Dawkins' book, "The God Delusion"
The DVD "The God Who Wasn't There"
Sam Harris' book, "The End of Faith"

While you can't prove a god doesn't exist in any absolute sense, there is much evidence that gods don't exist. Primarily, that evidence comes from the religions, themselves. Each religion has a beginning and there is evidence of it being man-made. For example, many of the stories in the Bible come from previous myths. The book, "101 Myths of the Bible" list many of these.

You can also look into human nature. Human psychology has many examples of people making up things that aren't true.

One should not be asked to disprove something that hasn't been proven in the first place.

For example, try and disprove the existence of the tooth fairy. If you cannot, should you then believe in the tooth fairy?

The logical approach would be for the positive claimant (those who claim something exists) to provide the evidence that supports the claim. The degree of evidence required should be comensurate with the degree of belief required. For example, I only need to show you my driver's license to provide evidence that I know how to drive. However, I would need to produce much more evidence if I claimed the tooth fairy existed.

Good luck

Here is my standard answer:

There is no evidence that there is a god. No evidence essentially means that someone made it up. It isn't rational or reasonable to believe in things without any evidence to back it up. You would be stuck with hundreds of thousands of gods and everything else that human imagination could come up with since they all have the same evidence.

Not believing in god is the same as not believing in Odin, Zeus, Ra, Hera, Bacchus, The Great Spirit, Osiris, The Flying Spaghetti Monster and all the others. I would be no less surprised of evidence of Odin was found than I would be if evidence of your god was.

See if you can find the debate from Dan Barker and Todd Friel sometime ago, that would help. Also, if you go to http://www.livingwaters.com/listenwatch/BCAD.zip that will allow you download a debate between Ray Comfort and Ron Barrier (American Atheists Inc), and just take some notes.
