My husband and I recently switched sunday school classes at church. We let the teacher know that we were going to switch because an old peer of ours was starting a new class for people more of our own age group and life stage, he (the teacher) had no problem with it. However, another man who was in our old class saw us in church today and told us we didn't need to be in that new class because it was for people in their 20's and 30's. (I am 28, husband is 37). When I told him how old we were, his jaw dropped and he said he thought we were in our 40's like he and his wife. Do you think these were innappropropriate comments to mention alloud in church?

Please forgive him. He is a member of Christ's body the same as you. He apparently doesn't know how to tell someones age and spoke before thinking. We all do that sometimes.

I personally would find it a little inappropriate and offensive. If he didnt know you well enough to know your age, he didnt need to make that comment. Some people these days are way out of line, and i think he was. Church is not a place for comments like that, and some things people need to learn to keep to themselves. Believe me, he was wrong. And join the new class!

His comment was just plain rude, whether he was in church or not. Perhaps your Sunday school should include a class in remedial manners.

No, not inappropriate, but he should have kept the thought to himself. He just said what was on his mind, and he should have kept it to himself. Everyone has done this at one point or another. He made a mistake. Just move on.

It might have felt a little uncomfortable, but I don't really think it was all that inappropriate. He was mistaken about your ages, and was surprised when he found out. I think he realized his mistake, nonetheless.
