Please see the ENT and he will give him antibiotics for the pain and the infection and he will also request a CT scan for his sinuses and he will possibly suggest surgery(possibly because of structural issues in the nose/sinuses) and also see if he has allergies. He/She will possibly suggest an allergist and also give him meds for allergies too. With surgery, it helped me reduce sinus infections. I haven't had one since. Also, put him under steam and do a nasal washing, a good nasal wash is SinuCleanse and also drink lots of water and saline helps a lot and a humidifer too. Do this everyday.

he might have to have a cat scan of his sinuses, to see where the infection is the worst, then he'd go on a long-term antibiotic.

I'm not sure about the anxiety, but it might have something to do with any over the counter medication he's taking....some of the stuff has side effects like that.

If your son still has his tonsils, this could be a contributing factor. See a ENT Doctor and he/she can determine the problem. If it is allergies, they can give medicine to help.
