I heard of the "condition" when it came up with a victim on CSI Vegas. I've got to figure out what causes it. When I looked it up on the internet, it gave me a bunch of weird and I think they were unrelated sites. Can someone diminish the mystery?

It comes from to forms hyper-above and graphia-to write. This means that the person has an insatiable urge to constantly write. It can be as harmless as keeping huge tombs of diary's or writing on the walls and such a compulsion that the person is unable to function in the 'normal' work place. It is thought that some of the most prolific authors of our times may have mild forms of this. Though the cause is different in each individual some of the causes are being Manic/depressive, some people have received emotional trauma and others physical trauma to the head. I can only guess that you are concerned for either your well being or the that of a person that you love. I would contact your GP or your help line at your local mental health center (this is very confidential). Good luck.

The unstoppable drive to write (or produce in other media), called hypergraphia, can be triggered by temporal lobe epilepsy, mania, and other mood disorders.

Hypergraphia is an overwhelming urge to write.
