Ive developed a pain in my left hip thats lasted for over two months now. Im not sure if the pain is in the joint or the muscle surrounding it. Usualy during the day it doesnt bother me that much but it gets worse when i sleep. It went away for about 2 weeks but now its back and last night it got so bad I wanted to shoot myself but I couldnt even get out of my bed. Im only 19 and other than this pain im very healthy and active. What do you think the problem is and what should i do about it ? Any advice will be greatly apreciated. Thank You.

Only a doc can tell you for sure, as you may have something more than you can detect yourself.

I was in a car accident and had tons of problems.
The only thing that worked after I tried phys. therapy, and chiropractic - which was a waste ,

is acupuncture - and that is amazing.

GOD bless us always.

See a chiropractor and a massage therapist

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Hi I am no Doctor but I have to wonder if it is not trochanteric bursitis which is extremely painful when you sleep because you may be sleeping on the left hip. You mention being active and if its a repetitive sports that could cause it. The only thing that also tells me perhaps it is something different then bursitis is that this condition is often made worse by walking. Please have your Dr examine it for you.

You need to see your MD. I've had the same problem for the last three weeks, but mine is gradually getting better. I have degenerative spine and hip problems. I was a runner, did weight training for 35 yrs.,but I also had my back fused at 16.. birth defect and baseball injury.. Maybe a hip pointer in your case..
I was very active until three weeks ago.. This for me is really a setback.

I've used cryoderm from earthturns.com it is great for pain relief. They have the best price and it comes in spray, roll-on or gel. Good luck.
