My girlriend gave her stepmother $1400 tward the purchase of a vehicle in Oklahoma, She recieved a bill of sale showing the reciept of the money, but still can't get a title or vehicle from the owner (stepmother). How can she recover the money or the vehicle? She now resides in South Dakota.

Who lives where? That is the key. Your girlfriend can bring suit against her stepmother for either the cash or to turn over the car (called 'specific performance') but if your girlfriend has moved away to South Dakota, she would have to return here to pursue the lawsuit in small claims.

If her stepmother has moved away, your girlfriend can have her served and sue her locally, but any judgement might not be enforceable against the stepmother unless she has assets within the jurisdiction of the court where the award was made.

Your last line is not specific about who 'she' is.

THEY HAVE A PLACE FOR THIS KIND OF CLAIM ITS CALLED SMALL CLAIMS COURT AND YOU CAN SUE HIM FOR THE RETURN OF YOUR MONEY YOU GAVE HIM AND THE COST OF THE ATTERNEY AND THE COURT COST TOO AND IT SHOULDNT BE ALL THAT MUCH TO FILE A CLAIM AS I DID THE SAME THING AND IT OLNY COSTTED ME $38.00 TO FILE AND I RECOVERED MY MONEY AND THE MONEY I PAID TO THE COURT SO TRY THIS OK I HOPE THIS HELPS OUT THANKS..........
