Its not about what people think mate its about you two think and feel about each other. Mate you cant help the way u feel about him and you cant control who and when you want to like someone... I say go for it if youve got the guts to go upto some guy and ask them I think your awesome Im like in my 20s and still cant ask a guy out maybe one day i will but not anytime soon. DONT LISTEN TO WHAT OTHERS SAY! If you enjoy his company and like the way you feel around and you want to go out with him GO FOR IT! What have u got to lose??? If your friends judge you and if thats what you were afraid ofthen they werent your friends to begin with.
If your not sure how he feels about you just be friends with the guy and enjoy his company like that and see where it takes you, cause you never knw he might ask you out instead :D

just set up an event with some friends, and ask him if he wants to go. As time goes on, the 2 of you will become closer and eventually be dating.

no dont ask him out, if he likes you and he knows your shy he will ask you out. if he doesnt he does not like you unless he is shy too then your just going to have to make a move.
