whiten your teeth WITH OUT having to go to the dentist.
I heard if you brush with baking powder[or soda I don't know which one] helps and also with hydrogen peroxide.

But are there any other home things you can do?

:)

Brushing your teeth with baking soda isn't really a good idea. It's not so much the material as it is the brushing technique used. Too many people have a tendency to want to whiten, brighten and remove the stains using baking soda and become a little over zealous with the tooth brush, causing tissue recession and tooth brush abrasion. Both of which can be very damaging to teeth and non restorable to the tissue. Too many times patients come in with red swollen tissue and grooves sliced into the upper part of the tooth where the tissue used to be covering the cementoenamel junction. All because they were using baking soda to try to whiten and remove stains from coffee, tea and smoking. So yes, baking soda is abrasive and can damage teeth and tissue when used incorrectly. If you must use it, do so with a very gentle brushing motion and take care with the tissue not to scrub it too hard. Keep in mind that it took a lot of time for those stains to build up; you aren't going to take them off in a few days or even weeks of brushing with baking soda. The best way and what we recommend is for you to come in for a professional cleaning and let us remove those stains getting your teeth as clean and white as possible. This will give you the ability to keep them that way with your excellent home care of brushing and flossing with out the use of baking soda. If it's whitening your interested in, we can take care of that also without the risk of damaging the tissue and enamel on your teeth. So if you still want to use it, just be careful and keep a close watch on your tissue and teeth. Remember it’s not how hard you brush, but how well you do it. Any signs of redness or tenderness and you should stop using baking soda immediately. Hope I've been of some help in making you aware of the risk involved in using baking soda and the signs of misuse or over use to watch out for.

I wouldn't recommend the use of crest strips either, they produce a temporary white. The best and really only way to lighten your teeth with better results and a more permanent method is to use the bleaching trays with a monitored prescription strength bleaching solution. If you are serious about wanting to whiten your teeth I suggest you discuss this with your dentist, he will guide you in the best possible way for the results you wish to attain. Good luck!

yes personally i would recommend you to try colgate whitening with baking soda and peroxide. it will not only help you whiten your teeth gradually but it will help you maintain your fresh breath for hours if you dont have any cavity or gum problems, since it has baking soda it will help eliminate the odor. but then again its still best for you to seek your dentist advise so that they could help you more .. always remember when in comes to dental health... dentists knows best ;-)

Crest white strips work great. But you HAVE to be consistant.
Don't smoke, try to brush after drinking coffee and tea, etc.

First of all never use toothpaste that says whitening on it, as this takes away layers of your tooth to make it whiter this can cause damage, i would advise you to use toothpaste with fluride and fluride strips which u can get at the chemist:)

hope that helps.x
