Over the last 10 years I have taken at one time or another Zoloft, Celexa, Zyprexa, Paxil, Seroquel, Klonipin, Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Remeron, Trazadone, Wellbutrin, Serzone or Cymbalta. In short like I said all worked to little or no avail. The Zoloft is the only SSRI that gave me the least amount of side effects and after taking it for years it just stopped working. I also suffer from severe back pain so I take Vicodin & Soma for that . Hence b/c of side effects/interactions the ONLY thing I can use to treat my anxiety is xanax (other than weed lol). My mother went to a nutrition specialist & he recommended some women's mega vitamins called Natural Woman & recommended drinking at least one glass of O.J. per day. I know more exercise wouldn't hurt as well. My final ? would be should I listen to these so called Dr's prescribing crap that doesn't work or give the "natural" methods a chance. Every conventional DR is going to recommend some anti depressant I have already taken. Input NE1?

From my understanding, medications can not help Borderline Personality Disorder. The medications help the symptoms associatied with the disorder.

But many of the symptoms are part of "who you are," and can't be changed with medication. Therapy can help you learn to control the "negative behaviors" and the intense fear of abandonment, and the black and white thinking, BUT medications can't remove those.

If the meds don't seem to help your sysmptoms of anxiety, etc, perhaps their is no reason to be on them and just work through your personality issues with a therapist.

I'm also Borderline and have been on a LOT of meds and none seem to be helping. I am also in DBT which I have not noticed any help. I've never heard of the orange juice thing, but someone told me not to drink citrus juices with lithium. Maybe you could try another doctor and get a fresh start. I really hope you find something that works, because coming from another Borderline I know how hard it is to be taking med after med for 2 week stretches and getting no results. If something is not working, mostly mine will change it every two weeks. Good Luck...I know I probably didn't help, but hope you know I at least understand...maybe someone will come along and offer some real advice. Good Luck.

I suggest therapy along with anti depressants. Please have the pharmacist explain about the anti depressant you take-side effects as well as what it is expected to do.(and what you cannot do ex. I cannot eat grapefruit when I take Depakoe, it negates its usefulness.
