I am on it for Rheumatoid Arthritis. If you take it have you ever had bleeding gums while on it?

Thanks for all responses.

My reason for thinking it is the Hydrocodone is that, my prescription ran out for 6 weeks and no bleeding. As soon as I was back on it the bleeding began again.

My gums are in excellent condition as are the teeth. The bleeding only happens when I take the Hydrocodone.

I take it for the same thing and I've never had any problems except occasionally I will get very nauseated shortly after taking it.

I've been using Norco (10mg hydrocodone/325mg apap) for years and no gum bleeding. While anything is possible, I doubt it's the hydrocodone.
I have lupus and have dental issues. I've never had so many dental problems in my life- dry mouth equals cavities, sensitivity, gum problems, etc, etc.
RA is linked to periodontal disease.
"Periodontal disease and rheumatoid arthritis have very similar pathologies," said Robert Genco, D.D.S., Ph.D., editor of the Journal of Periodontology. "Damage caused by the immune system and chronic inflammation are central to both diseases. A better understanding of the biological processes common to these diseases may help us find new ways to treat them with medications that modify the body's response to inflammation."

Find a dentist who understands your problems and medications. Good luck to you!

I have used it for post surgical pain management and for a broken back and never had that side effect. The obvious suggestion would be some type of gum or oral hygiene (no offense) or infection problem. Please check with your MD and or DDS.

I'm a nurse. Vicodin don't have a side effect like this, see a doctor. Something else is going on. You could be allergic to the medicine as well.
