If you want to get fit, cut off most sugary snacks and salty snacks, like chips and chocolate, and substitute that with fruits and vegetables. For example, a regular apple is less than 100 calories and keeps you full, while a banana is around 150 calories + and keeps you energized in moderate exercise. Remember that a bag of Skittles is about 230 calories, which is equal to a bowl of cereal or a bowl of Kraft's instant Mac N Cheese.

Burn off more than you eat, but don't eat under 1200 calories unless instructed by a doctor. The average 14 year old needs around 1600 calories +, give or take a hundred. Exercise daily for thirty minutes or more, and drink 6+ cups of water to keep hydrated. Water also aids in calorie burning.

Try to plan out what you eat daily, and instead of snacking all the time or eating what you see, try preparing some food the night before and take that with you. Eat at ready intervals, maybe every five hours. In the end, do not overexert yourself or cut off too much food.
