My dog loves being outside even during the harsh winter season...(I live in New England) to the extent that he cries when he is inside, I built him a doghouse and he loves it.. sometimes he even refuses to sleep inside!! whenever he is in his doghouse overnite tho, he bites the wood of the doorframe to the point that its now in 2 separate pieces, ive tried putting a metal barrier which he managed to bite through resulting in cuts to his face, he even rips the of the siding that i put on his house. HELP!

Why don't you try to build one like this:

I dont know how big your yard is but you can make a smaller version and put a tarp over the top. You could probably even put a heater/AC inside! It has a cement floor and fence siding.

That site has ALOT of designes (smaller than the first link) of dog houses. Alot of which might work for you.

Good luck!

I have to ask WHY you need a dog house for your dog in the first place?

Why is he not allowed in the house? Why does he need a dog house in the first place?

If you MUST leave him outside and he is destructive it may be due to boredom or depending on his age he may still be teething. OR he is greatly lacking in some essential minerals and nutrients due to being feed a poor quailty, commercial dog food.

There are some wonderful "indestructable" dog houses on the market that would be far safer for him and you would not have to keep re-building it. I have seen an Igloo style that appears very nice!..

Please let your precious pooch be part of your family and be able to be indoors when you are home!

Put a toy box filled with a large variety of things inside his dog house. Keep putting new things in there for him to discover. Hopefully this will give him other things to chew!

I hope you have some straw in there to keep him warm. But aside from that he needs some toys and some big huge dog chews. It sounds like he is bored. Buy him a large cow femur to chew on that will keep him busy for awhile
Good Luck.

Forget about building a doghouse for your particular breed which can be very destructive. Doghouses which are virtually indestructable can be purchased. I use one which is made from very heavy polyvinyl and it has worked well after repeated chewing which did no harm to the house.

You need to be giving this dog so much more exercise, He needs to be walked at a fast pace for at least an hour at least once a day and more often if possible. And give him things to chew that he won't hurt himself on.

Dogs should be kept in the house. How can the dog protect your house if it's tied in the back yard/

dog needs to be trained... he should be crated in the house at night and should be given plenty of exercise during the day...... he needs human contact and he needs to have a human exercising him... a dog left alone can be very destructive and will not properly exercise himself
